Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot of broadcast equipment and systems. You will work closely with
    production teams to ensure seamless operation of audio and video equipment, transmission systems, and
    broadcast infrastructure.
  • Equipment Installation and Configuration:
    Install, configure, and calibrate broadcast equipment such as cameras, microphones, mixers, switchers,
    routers, servers, and encoders.
    Set up and configure satellite, microwave, fiber optic, or IP-based transmission systems for video and
    audio distribution.
  • Maintenance and Repair:
    Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of broadcast equipment and systems.
    Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and technical issues, diagnosing problems and implementing solutions in a timely manner.
    Coordinate with equipment vendors and service providers for repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Signal Monitoring and Quality Control:
    Monitor broadcast signals and transmission paths to ensure signal integrity, quality, and compliance with technical standards.
    Conduct quality control checks on audio and video content, identifying and addressing any anomalies or discrepancies.
    Implement corrective measures to resolve signal degradation or transmission errors.
  • Broadcast Infrastructure Management:
    Manage broadcast facilities, including studios, control rooms, transmission sites, and data centers,
    ensuring operational efficiency and safety.
    Maintain inventory of equipment, spare parts, and consumables, and coordinate procurement activities as required.
    Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and backup procedures to minimize downtime and data loss.
  • Technical Support and Training:
    Provide technical support and assistance to production teams, operators, and staff members during live
    broadcasts and recording sessions.
    Train staff on the proper use of broadcast equipment and technologies, and develop instructional materials as needed.
    Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements related to
    broadcasting.

Job requirements

Must Haves Qualities & Talents:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Broadcast Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., SBE, SMPTE) may be advantageous.
  • Generally, employers look for candidates with at least 2-5 years of professional experience in broadcast engineering or a related field. This experience provides candidates with a solid foundation in the technical aspects of broadcasting.
  • Proven experience in broadcast engineering, including equipment installation,
    maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • In-depth knowledge of broadcast systems, including cameras, audio mixers, video switchers, routers, servers, and transmission technologies.
  • Familiarity with broadcast standards and regulations, such as NTSC, PAL,
    ATSC, and FCC guidelines.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality broadcast experiences.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support live broadcasts and special events.
  • Analytical technical thinking;
  • Understanding of networking principles, IP addressing, protocols (TCP/IP, UDP,
    RTP), and familiarity with IT infrastructure components relevant to broadcasting, including LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, and network security.
  • Comprehensive understanding of signal flow within broadcasting systems, including analog and digital audio/video signals, as well as familiarity with signal processing techniques
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements governing broadcasting operations
  • Proficiency in operating a variety of broadcast equipment
  • Planning and organization of operations and activities.
