Key Responsibilities:

  • Testing hardware, software, and network functionalities of these devices to guarantee they meet quality
    standards and fulfill customer requirements. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including
    hardware engineers, software developers, and product managers to identify issues, propose solutions,
    and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Develop and execute test plans and test cases for home gateway devices, covering various
    aspects including hardware, software, and network functionalities.
  • Perform functional testing, regression testing, and performance testing to ensure the reliability and
    stability of home gateway devices.
  • Conduct compatibility testing with different operating systems, browsers, and networking
    environments to ensure seamless integration and operation.
  • Identify, isolate, and document issues found during testing, and work closely with development
    teams to troubleshoot and resolve them.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers and software developers to define testing requirements and
    ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback to improve the quality and reliability of home
    gateway devices.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in home networking
    and device testing.
  • Document test procedures, results, and findings in clear and concise reports for internal
    stakeholders.
  • Assist in the automation of test cases and testing processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality assurance process.

Job requirements

Must Haves Qualities & Talents:

  • Testing Tools: Proficiency in using testing tools and frameworks such as
    Selenium, Appium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar tools for automated testing.
  • Networking Protocols: Strong understanding of networking protocols including
    TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, DHCP, DNS, and Wi-Fi standards (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac).
  • Operating Systems: Knowledge of various operating systems including
    Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, and their interaction with home
    gateway devices.
  • Scripting and Programming: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python,
    Bash, or Perl for test automation and developing testing scripts.
  • Version Control Systems: Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or
    SVN for code and test script management.
  • Quality Assurance Practices: Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, testing best practices, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Troubleshooting Skills
  • Documentation: Ability to create clear and concise documentation including test
    plans, test cases, test reports, and technical specifications.

  • Adaptability and Learning Agility
  • Proven experience in testing consumer electronics devices, preferably home
    gateway devices.
  • Proficiency in testing methodologies, test case development, and test automation
    tools.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and
    Wi-Fi standards.
  • Experience with network troubleshooting tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with hardware testing tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and
    logic analyzers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in
    a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks
    simultaneously.
  • Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB) is a plus.
