Welcome to the Citymesh Core Engineering team! As a Core Engineer for Mobile Networks, you’ll play a crucial role in the implementation, development, testing and optimization of 4G and 5G PLMN currently being rolled out across Belgium. We plan to bring leading B2B mobile services to our customers both in Belgium and internationally. You will support our cutting-edge operations while contributing to innovation in core network technologies services.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Mobile Core Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on the implementation, testing and operational support. We are rolling out a national network using cutting cutting-edge Nokia mobile core network. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of knowledge on legacy networks up to next-generation cloud based technologies. Here at Citymesh we do not see engineering in specific areas, it is expected that candidates can operate across all domains.

Here's What You'll Dive Into:

  • Network Design and Implementation (Supporting Function):

    • Architect, configure, and deploy Nokia-based mobile core network solutions, including 4G EPC (Evolved Packet Core) and 5G Core

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable and future-proof network architectures.

    • Conduct network upgrades, expansions, and migrations with minimal disruption.

  • System Integration and Testing:

    • Perform end-to-end integration of Nokia products with third-party systems and networks.

    • Develop and execute test plans for system validation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and operator requirements.

  • Optimization and Performance Management:

    • Monitor and analyze network performance using Nokia’s advanced tools and analytics.

    • Identify and resolve network bottlenecks, optimizing throughput, latency, and reliability.

    • Proactively implement enhancements to meet Quality of Service (QoS) objectives.

  • Troubleshooting and Support (24/7 on-call):

    • Diagnose and resolve complex issues within the mobile core network, including packet processing, signaling, and connectivity challenges.

    • Provide Level 2/3 support for operational teams, ensuring swift resolution of incidents.

  • Collaboration and Innovation:

    • Partner with Nokia, product teams, and other vendors to adopt and integrate the latest technologies, such as Cloud-Native solutions, Network Slicing, Networks-as-Code,

    • Stay updated on advancements in Nokia’s product portfolio and participate in Proof-of-Concept (PoC) projects.

  • Documentation and Training:

    • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and operational guidelines.

    • Provide training and mentorship to other area of the business both in technical and non-technical role

Job requirements

Must Have Qualities & Talents

  • Education & Experience:

    • At least 3 years of experience in mobile core network engineering, ideally with a proven track record at a Tier 1 Operator.

    • Hands-on experience with Nokia products such as Cloud Mobility Manager (CMM), Cloud Mobile Gateway (CMG), Shared Data

    • Layer (SDL), or equivalent products from other vendors is a strong advantage.

    • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Technical Expertise:

    • In-depth knowledge of 4G/5G Core technologies, protocols (SCTP, GTP, Diameter, HTTP2), and interfaces.

    • Understanding of legacy technologies and protocols (MAP, CAP, SCCP) and their interfaces.

    • Familiarity with roaming, messaging, charging, and lawful interception.

    • Expertise in Core Integration of RAN (4G/5GSA) and Nokia IMS solutions (CFX, NTAS).

    • Proficiency in Subscriber Management and Provisioning via Nokia SDL.

    • Experience with OCS (Online Charging) for voice, data, and messaging traffic.

    • Knowledge of Voicemail, UCaaS PBX systems, and SIM Card Management (OTA, RSP).

    • Competence in using network monitoring and diagnostic tools.

  • Languages:

    • Fluency in English is essential, with Dutch considered a strong plus.

  • Work Arrangement:

    • A hybrid work model with a minimum presence of two days per week at our Oostkamp office.
