Job description

The Learning and Development Expert will deliver specialized training programs to enhance technical, safety, and operational skills for infrastructure teams. Using a combination of hands-on sessions, practical demonstrations, and e-learning approaches, the training will support technicians in deploying fiber (FTTH), trenching, splicing, cherry picker operations, and mobile RAN systems.

Key Responsibilities

1.Program design and customization

Work together with HSE, FTTH and RAN Managers or field supervisors to clearly understand the expected training outcomes.

Collaborate with the Infrastructure and HSE teams to align training content with operational and safety standards, including VCA, BA4, and local regulations.

Adapt existing training materials for diverse technical roles, ensuring compliance with Digi Belgium’s guidelines and industry standards.

Develop e-learning modules and digital training tools to complement in-person sessions, ensuring accessible and scalable learning opportunities.


2. Training delivery

Deliver standard face-to-face training sessions to groups of technicians, using an existing curriculum and manual as a foundation.

Conduct technical and safety training, including role-specific practical demonstrations (e.g., splicing tools, cherry picker operations, ladder handling).

Facilitate onboarding sessions covering company policies, cultural adaptation, and local regulatory requirements.

Ensure flexibility to deliver training at various locations, sometimes at short notice.

3. Assessment, certification and reporting

Evaluate the quality and short-term impact of training through participant assessments, practical tests, and feedback forms.

Develop specific tools, if needed, to enable efficient delivery and assessment of training, including baseline information about participants.

Provide comprehensive post-training reports, including evaluations, participant performance, and improvement recommendations.

Generate certificates for each technician.

4. Collaboration and adaptability

Maintain close collaboration with FTTH and RAN managers, field supervisors, and HSE officers to ensure training objectives are met.

Adapt training content and methodologies to local contexts while aligning with international safety and operational standards.

Be prepared to travel , ensuring timely delivery of training programs in diverse environments.


Deliverables

Training design

Develop detailed training plans tailored to each technician role, including objectives, agendas, and baseline participant data.

Incorporate blended learning strategies combining hands-on sessions with e-learning content.

Training implementation

Deliver in-person and virtual training sessions to groups of up to 40 participants, lasting up to five days.

Include role-specific safety demonstrations and technical skill practices based on the standard curriculum and manual.

Reporting and certification

Certify participants post-training and provide detailed reports within three days of session completion.

Reports should include training evaluations, participant feedback, improvement recommendations, and supplementary materials (e.g., photos/videos).

Expertise in modern training practices:

Extensive knowledge and experience in modern training principles, techniques, and methodologies, including blended learning approaches.


Technical and industry-specific knowledge:

Proven expertise in infrastructure-related fields, including FTTH, trenching, splicing, cherry picker operations, and mobile RAN systems.

Adaptability to local contexts:

Ability to tailor training content to meet the specific needs of diverse teams and local operational contexts.

Operational and safety awareness:

Strong understanding of safety and operational standards (e.g., VCA, BA4) within construction and telecommunications settings.


Training delivery excellence:

Proven track record of delivering impactful training sessions, including assessments of short-term and long-term training effectiveness.


Flexibility and resilience:

Demonstrates ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and adapt to rapidly changing environments, including last-minute travel to various locations.


Team collaboration in multicultural environments:

Willingness and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary and multicultural team, fostering an inclusive learning environment.


Prioritization and organization skills:

Capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously while ensuring high-quality training outcomes.


Familiarity with international standards and practices:

Knowledge and experience with international organizations’ training standards and practices in telecommunications and infrastructure are highly desirable.Required skills and experience

Education

University degree in education, engineering, organizational development, or related fields.


Experience

Minimum of five years’ experience in:

Delivering technical, operational, and safety training to infrastructure teams, preferably in construction or telecommunications.

Evaluating the impact and outcomes of training programs.

Working with diverse, cross-cultural teams in global or regional contexts.


Desirable experience:

Knowledge of international safety and training standards, particularly in the FTTH and RAN fields.

Prior experience working with or for international organizations or large-scale infrastructure projects.


Language requirements

Fluency in English is mandatory.

Proficiency in additional languages such as Dutch, French, Romanian is highly desirable.
